It didn’t start with you – Survival vs thriving

survival mentality. Need, lack and hardship hone survival skills. This is evolution.

However, an excess of this nurturing raises you into a person whose first instinct is to hoard and grab. You are perpetually alert and frightened; looking for the next intruder to kill, or restless over your possessions already acquired – an insecurity that shows itself even in your relationships.

This mentality has you seeing food, money, material resources and people as an end; not the means to an end. And because of that, you are unable to look beyond them to the freedom of choice, influence and a thriving life that is a much better end.

Relationships are about “getting as much out of this as I can while it lasts”, hardly living in the moment. People are to be used, opportunities are to be greedily exploited, life is to be taken from as quickly and as much as possible. These are features of a survival – driven life. And they became a part from you from way back; from that time in your past where material and/or emotional need and lack existed.

If you see yourself within these lines, revisit your grooming and take the journey of undoing. Elevate your choices towards thriving. Think in the currency of abundance. That is a higher consciousness.
